PANTA RHEI (2025-2026)
A shadow-casting panel made of biowaste and mycelium, in collaboration with mycrobez AG. The panels are created by collecting biowaste, shaping it appropriately, and allowing the mycelium to strengthen and stabilise the structure (cf. more information about the process). For this project we developed a new, "organic" geometry for the shadow-casting panels, more suitable for the materials in use. The resulting panels are robust for indoor applications, but at the same time they are 100% biologically decomposable when placed back in the nature.
panta rhei is on display during spring and summer 2026 at the park of the Swiss Science Center Technorama in Winterthur (Switzerland), where you can observe through a timelapse-setup both the shadow play during each day and the decomposition process throughout the weeks and months. By the end of the outdoor-season panta rhei will decompose, closing the (re-)usability cycle.
